He may retire from basketball but he will never retire from his business interests. In fact if I were a betting person I might bet that the reason Mr. M.J. is quitting this season is because he can make more money doing something else. I wonder what it is? Will it be one of his current projects or something brand new? Stay tuned!
Thanks for the good times!
Michael Jordon Broadens Clothing Line
Michael Jordon, basketball's super, super star announced the
expansion of his clothing and shoe line. In addition to being the
world's greatest basketball player, Michael is an astute businessman.
Besides owning his well-known "Michael Jordon" restaurant in Chicago
and having his own line of men's cologne, Michael will be overseeing a
line of basketball sneakers and apparel bearing his name for his
longtime sponsor Nike, Inc.
The Chicago Bulls superstar has already added millions of dollars to
Nike's bottom line and his as well over the past 13 years for his
signature "Air Jordan" shoes and clothing. Michael currently earns over
$40 million a year with product endorsements.
Jordan has just signed a one year contract to do one more season
with the Bulls, but after that he is expected to again retire for the
final time from the game of basketball. With that in mind and his huge
basketball superstar paycheck soon to cease, the world's leader in
athletic shoes has come up with a way for Michael to keep his hand in the
game and his image on the shoes worn on the court.
Michael will run a broadened Jordan brand of basketball shoes and
clothing that will not only carry the "Air Jordon" line but other models
that will be designed especially for other pro players picked by
Michael.
The first Jordan brand collection is expected to debut this coming
November. The shoes in the Jordon line are expected to be priced as low
as $90 to make them more affordable.
As if Michael is not busy enough being involved in his business
empire, he expects to be heavily involved in designing the expanded
lines of apparel and shoes. He said that will give him an outlet for
his creative ambitions and competitiveness.

Michael Jordon Endorses AMF's Bowling Products
First it was basketball. Then it was baseball. Now it's bowling.
Endorsement deals still keep coming for Michael Jordon and next in his
sports stable is a deal with AMF, the world's largest bowling center
owner and operator with its 353 centers.
He has signed a five year contract to endorse their products, but
the deal doesn't come without a price. AMF, which announced plans to go
public last August, is buying Jordan's fledgling Michael Jordon Golf
Company which includes a golf center in Aurora and three retail golf
stores.
Michael and his golf company partner, Chuck Reeves, had been looking for
more capital to expand the golf centers. The endorsement deal came
along as AMF was originally wanting to get Michael's endorsement of its
bowling products - - no terms of Jordan's endorsement deal or what AMF's
investment was in buying the Michael Jordon Golf Company.
An interesting fact about bowling is that it is still the largest participating
sport in the country with approximately 53 million people bowling at
least on occasion. Bowling sources say that league bowling is in a
decline, but "open play" bowling is on the increase.
Michael Jordon keeps getting bigger and bigger. He's now a super, super
star. And, a nice guy on top of it.
